referred Mediums – Watercolour & Water-soluble Oils

“Judy” was born in Moncton, N.B.  She began painting during her childhood in New Glasgow, N.S.  On graduating from the VG and Dalhousie Schools of Nursing in Halifax, N.S.  she moved to Kentville in 1964.  There she enrolled in the first of many continuing art education courses from well known Valley artists including Fran Dickie, Ron Goodwin, Mona Balcom, Freda Nauss and Bev Lewis.  At Acadia University’s art programs she studied under Jeanne Hancock, Jeanette Staples and Sally Babie.  During two summer art weeks in Tatamagouche, N.S., her teachers in outdoor watercolours were Roger Savage and Barbara MacQueen.  She took a summer workshop in Lunenburg with Buzz Baker.  Over the years Judy has attended the Artists’ Circle workshops taught by a variety of artists.

In 1989 the Old Kings Courthouse Museum in Kentville sponsored a solo exhibit of her acrylic paintings. Her works can be found at the Valley Regional’s “Apple Bin Gallery” as well as in private collections in Scotland , Ireland , New Zealand , Australia , USA,  and Canada.

Her paintings have been shown at the Art Shack in Margaretsville, Middleton’s MacDonald Museum, the annual Apple Blossom Art Show, the Annapolis County Ex in Lawrencetown and the Windsor Exhibition.

Judy and husband Bob live in Cambridge, Kings County.  Currently, she paints in watercolour and water soluble oils.  Their three offspring; Ross, Dave and Jennifer and their spouses are great encouragers of her art.  Local scenery and flowers are her favourite subjects..
